Skipping School

Holden had the school looking all over for him today. He had a suspicion that no one would notice if he left school with the A track kids who leave an hour before his B track does. Well as he put it later when telling me the real story he followed his "instinct" and grabbed his backpack during recess and headed for home. This is what we have pieced together for that hour of time:
  • He came to the house realized it was locked.
  • Went to a friends house where the dad asked why he was home so early and Holden replied he had been to the zoo on a field trip and he was home early.
  • Left the friends house and ended up hiding by the side of our house.
  • A teacher who had been driving around looking for him and Gray who had just arrived home from school found him hiding.
  • He told them both he was just confused and thought school was over.
Well it takes one to know one so I was able to get the truth from him and he promises not to do it again.

Church

Ridge is very shy and nervous in group situations and has a hard time being left alone at lessons, school  or even church. A few weeks ago he went to church with my parents and he fell in love with his primary teacher. She admittedly is gorgeous and I give it to the kid for having good taste. Well for the last three weeks he has made getting to that class top priority. Mother's Day morning first thing out of his mouth was "can I go to church with grandma?". My dad was kind enough to come and get him and as they were headed to the car Ridge made it clear to Papa that he is not to sit with him in class, he is okay to be ALONE. It is cute and wonderful to see that he can be drawn out of his shell when he finds something/someone he likes :)
